Our Story
Who We Are
Deacon Trust supports the collaboration of a number of professional organisations, training bodies, and churches who work alongside each other to provide mental health expertise and education in order to serve our communities.
We contribute skills from our professional backgrounds in medicine, psychology, counselling, social work, peer support, and practical theology.
HeartSpace trains you to support individuals in improving their mental health and wellbeing. You will learn how to combine pastoral care and support worker skills. This involves knowing how to come alongside those in distress with compassion and skilfulness. You will acquire the ability to make a basic mental health assessment and knowledge of how to collaborate with healthcare professionals in providing comprehensive support. This will equip you to work within churches and the broader community.
HeadSpace is the teaching outreach to church leaders and the community. We conduct seminars on important topics involving mental health, spirituality, and theology as the need arises.
